FANIME 2003 Memories

Welcome to the nt2099 Cosplay Underground's "FAnime 2003 Memories" segment.

For those who are familiar with Cosplay Underground photos. Instead of putting the cosplay photos up the way that most people do with theirs, Cosplay Underground takes a different approach to our cosplay photos. We like to graphically tweak the photos and visually capture your attention. As my friend Hiroshi would say...."have a fun" with them.

This photo coverage covers FANIME 2003 which took place on June 20-22 at Santa Clara, CA. Covering Fanime for Cosplay Underground were Dennis [kndy] [pictured on left, with cosplayer Tiffany], James and Cory [pictured on right] and Randy and Edwin [pictured below].

I have to admit that I was not sure what to expect with Fanime being so close to AX but all in all, it was a good vacation to get away and meet up with friends. Although there were many aspects of Fanime 2003 that we had high hopes for [such as Fanime's Music Festival - "GakuFest" [Did anyone know about it except the press, J-Rock fans and 30 other audience members?], the Karaoke [technical glitches and again...late] and the Cosplay Masquerade. At least the cosplay masquerade was exciting to watch (and boy-oh-boy did fans get some fan service this year). We would of liked to enjoy the dance but there was some major bodyheat going on that I wonder what happened to the ventilation system? But of course, in enjoying a con, it depends on one's preference and we we enjoyed the fact that we didn't have to wait in line to get inside the dealer's room. We definitely enjoyed hanging out with GakuFest performers and meeting the Japanese guests...So, despite some problems we did have fun!

The main thing that many of us enjoy about Fanime is the opportunity to be with friends who we only see several times a year at Fanime and a few other anime cons. So, for that...we are grateful that Fanime still has something for everyone and they continue to try and make a Bay Area anime con possible.

As for this gallery, we still have a lot more pictures to add and also to go through, so please be patient.
